Job Description
The Chief Commercial Officer leads the entire commercial function of Oman Airports across the aeronautical, cargo, non-aeronautical, tourism-development and real-estate lines. The role sets and delivers the commercial strategy, drives sustainable revenue growth and diversification, and establishes the commercial operating model, governance and assurance that underpin it. ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Defines and delivers the commercial strategy across the aeronautical, cargo, non-aeronautical, tourism-development and real-estate revenue lines, keeping it aligned with Oman Airports' business plan and national objectives.
• Holds accountability for the commercial profit and loss, and for growing and diversifying aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue, connectivity and commercial yield.
• Directs the five commercial Vice Presidents and the cross-cutting director functions, building a high-performing and capable commercial organization.
• Embeds robust commercial governance and assurance, ensuring that pricing, sourcing, deal-closing, selection and independent assurance are held in separate hands, and maintaining a sound delegation-of-authority and approval framework.
• Represents Oman Airports' commercial interests with airlines, ministries, regulators, investors and major commercial partners, leading engagement at the most senior levels of government.
• Shapes the commercial operating model, defining the structures, capabilities, systems and the commercial intelligence and data foundation needed to compete against international benchmarks.
• Approves major commercial agreements, incentive schemes, tenders and business cases within the governance framework, escalating to the Board where this is required.
• Provides the Board and executive with commercial performance, risk and assurance reporting, and helps shape the commercial agenda at Board and executive level.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commercial Management, Economics, Finance, Aviation Management or a related field; a master's degree, such as an MBA, or a relevant professional qualification is strongly preferred.
• Brings a minimum of 12 years' experience in senior commercial leadership, including a substantial track record at executive level, ideally within aviation, airports, travel retail, real estate, hospitality or a comparable multi-line commercial environment.
• Has held direct accountability for a significant commercial profit and loss, and for delivering revenue growth and diversification across multiple business lines.
• Has a proven record of building and leading large, multi-disciplinary commercial teams and operating models.
• Has demonstrated success in high-level negotiation and stakeholder management with airlines, government bodies, regulators, investors and major partners.
• Possesses a strong understanding of commercial governance, segregation of duties, procurement integrity and value-for-money discipline.
• The role carries ultimate accountability for the integrity of the commercial function, including the segregation of pricing, sourcing, deal-closing, selection and independent assurance. Independent assurance, through Contracts & Commercial Assurance, together with Commercial Legal Counsel, is positioned so that its independence is preserved within the governance framework.
